Virtual Vocations Releases 2016 Telecommuting Top 10 'Mid-Year' Report Highlighting Career Industries and Hiring Companies

Following the success of its 2015 Statistical Telecommuting Report Virtual Vocations has released a 2016 'Top 10' mid-year report documenting telecommuting trends by state, career industry, job type, and employer.

In a 2016 Telecommuting Top 10 Mid-Year Report release, Virtual Vocations examined its own data abstracted from January 1 - June 30, 2016, as well as findings from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), to formulate a better understanding of the telecommuting work model and its relation to job seekers, employers, and the job market as a whole.

"The mid-year report provides an opportunity for us to see how telecommuting is growing and changing within various career fields, and to refine our research methods to better assist job seekers" said Laura Spawn, Founder and CEO of Virtual Vocations, the web's largest and most comprehensive online database of telecommute-only jobs.

Top 10 States with the Most Available Telecommute Jobs

California, Texas, and New York have reigned as the top three states for available telecommuting jobs since 2014. Thus far, the same is true for 2016, however, data did yield a few new results indicating a wider spread of telecommuting across the United States in some areas.

Top 10 Companies Hiring Telecommuters

Virtual Vocations looked to its Telecommute Companies Database when generating its list of the Top 10 Companies Hiring Telecommuters, as determined by the number of telecommute job vacancies from each employer that Virtual Vocations researched, verified, and posted to its site from January 1 - June 30, 2016.

The results of Virtual Vocations' investigation show that while half of the companies on its Top 10 Companies list are from the information technology sector, healthcare companies are among the leading providers of telecommute positions.

Top 10 Telecommute Career Industries

Top 10 Telecommute Career Industries—a list determined by the number of telecommute jobs openings posted to Virtual Vocations Telecommute Jobs Database in a given category—have largely remained consistent, with a few exceptions. Full data can be seen in our complete Mid-Year Report.

Top 10 Fastest Growing Telecommute-Friendly Jobs

For data on the Top 10 Fastest Growing Telecommute-Friendly Jobs, Virtual Vocations looked to the BLS Occupational Employment Statistics Program, which maps employment projections for the fastest growing occupations for a given period of time. Its most recent report outlined U.S. jobs projected to have the fastest rate of growth through 2024.

Virtual Vocations compared the BLS Report against data abstracted from its Telecommute Jobs Database to determine which of the fastest growing occupations through 2024 are also jobs that lend themselves to telecommuting.
